Shine in the Light of Christ
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.” Isaiah 52:7

Devotion: The Victory of Christ Crucified Is Given to Us in the Preaching of His Resurrection
Every Sunday is the Lord’s day, the day of His resurrection, “after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week” (Matthew 28:1). In the Divine Service, the Church enters upon the eternal “eighth day.” The Lord Jesus, “who was crucified,” who “has risen, as He said” (Matthew 28:5–6), is the firstborn from the dead and the first fruits of the new creation. Because “We have died” with Him in Holy Baptism, “We have been raised with Christ” and “Our life is hidden with Christ in God” (Colossians 3:1, 3). The Lord Jesus has become our God, as surely as He is “the God of all the clans of Israel,” and we now belong to His people (Jeremiah 31:1). In this, He “shows no partiality” (Acts 10:34), but “everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins through His name” (Acts 10:43). As “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power” and “raised Him on the third day.”
Prayer List Requests: If you would like to submit a prayer request, please contact the Church Secretary at 580-353-0556 or email at churchsecretary@stjohnlawton.com. What a friend we have in Jesus...take it to the Lord in Prayer. Church members may find prayer request names after signing in {"log in"} and navigating to this link under the Membership Directory Web Page.
Life Quotes: “As Christians, we rejoice in the Savior who shines light on our lives when we only expected inky blackness. May God’s strong Word remind us that the fullness of life is meant to be lived in the light. In our weakness, may the Lord bring alongside us faithful brothers and sisters to proclaim that God is light and life to us, and let us walk in the light as He is in the light (1 John 1:7). In Jesus we have light, and to have light is to have life. May we rejoice in proclaiming the message of Jesus as the Apostle John did. Thanks be to God that He is light, and He shines in the darkness.”
Life Thoughts In The Church Year: The babe once wrapped in swaddling cloths, the crucified Man wrapped in burial linens on Good Friday is now the Lord of Life risen from the dead! He has died for our sins (1 Corinthians 15:3) and He has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep (1 Corinthians 15:20). He has sanctified every stage of our life from conception to death, even promising resurrection to our mortal bodies (1 Corinthians 15:53). We are not to hasten death, but we also need not fear death because our Redeemer lives (Job 19:25), and in Him shall all be made alive (1Corinthians 15:22)!

There are many ways that we are able to serve the Lord. One way is to serve as either an usher or a greeter. It takes just a moment of your time, but means so much to our members. Thank you to all who signed up to be a greeter. All months have been filled. There is however, still a need for ushers. Sign up today and take an active part in this ministry here at St. John.
Please don’t forget, we are always collecting pull tabs and aluminum cans. The funds from our efforts aid various outreach programs.
